Abioye Omoyemi Akanji, a medical laboratory scientist, holds certificates in Immunology (IB), as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) and Public Health (MPH), respectively. Additionally, he has a Master of Science degree (MSC).
He received his primary education at Duro Oyedoyin Primary School from 1979 to 1985, followed by secondary education at Igbobi College Yaba from 1985 to 1991. He then attended Federal Polytechnic Ilaro from 1992 to 1995 and Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma from 1997 to 2002, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS). Additionally, he completed an internship at SMLS UCH in 1997 and earned a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from Lagos State University Ojo Lagos in 2008-2010. He furthered his studies and obtained a Master of Science degree in Clinical Chemistry and Molecular Diagnosis from the University of Lagos in 2018.
Abioye began his career at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Yaba, Lagos, where he started as an intern in 2003. He also completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program at St. Luke’s Hospital Anua, Akwa Ibom State in 2005. Presently, he holds the position of Team Lead/Assistant Director at the Clinical Chemistry and Endocrinology Unit of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.
In his capacity as an AMLSN member, Abioye has held various roles, including Publicity Secretary and Chairman of the Medical Compound Chapter. He is presently serving as the Chairman of the AMLSN Lagos branch.
